Oral allergy syndrome (OAS) or pollen-food allergy syndrome (PFAS) is a type of allergy classified by a cluster of allergic reactions in the mouth and throat in response to eating certain (usually fresh) fruits, nuts, and vegetables. It typically develops in adults with hay fever. It is not usually serious.
Signs and symptoms. Food intolerance is more chronic, less acute, less obvious in its presentation, and often more difficult to diagnose than a food allergy. [8] Symptoms of food intolerance vary greatly, and can be mistaken for the symptoms of a food allergy.
A food allergy is an abnormal immune response to food. The symptoms of the allergic reaction may range from mild to severe.
